"He is a Bohs fan too, so he is delighted to come to the club. He was even a mascot before!"

"He's had great season so far, has fantastic attributes, brilliant potential and will bring a different dynamic to the team."

Clarke had been a mainstay for 8th placed Drogheda United this season, making 21 appearances this term for Kevin Doherty's side.

The midfielder is another big loss for The Drogs this window, with loanees Sam Long and Sean Roughan being recalled to their parent club Lincoln City earlier last month.

Clarke signed for Drogheda from Shamrock Rovers in 2019 and became a fan favourite in the years that followed. The now departed Drog made over 70 appearances for the club in his three years at Head in the Game Park.

Clarke could make his debut this week for The Gypsies, when they take on Finn Harps in the Extra.ie FAI Cup on Friday.
