James Brown makes second loan move from Blackburn Rovers

James Brown has joined Doncaster Rovers on loan from Blackburn Rovers for the rest of the season.

The former Drogheda United full-back had been at Stockport County for the first-half of the campaign.

Brown made 22 appearances for Stockport in all competitions and helped the team keep 13 clean sheets.

But the 24-year-old - who recently signed a contract extension with Blackburn until 2024 - has now joined their League Two rivals.

Brown could make his debut this weekend when Doncaster host Tranmere Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium.

And he said: “After going back to Blackburn, I was just waiting for the right move.

“The opportunity came up here and the gaffer seems optimistic about where the club can finish this year and going forward has good ambitions.

“It was everything really that I was looking for in a club. I’m glad that it's done early in the window so I can get going and be ready for the weekend.

“I’m looking forward to finishing the season strongly with the club.”

Doncaster boss Danny Schofield said: “It’s a player we know a lot about, we know his strengths and areas where we feel he can improve, which we’ll help out with.

“He’s another positive signing that will make an impact quickly.

“His stats physically as well as tactically and technically are really high.

“It’s always important when we recruit players for January that they’re ready to go and not needing two or three to get their fitness levels up.

“He’s had plenty of minutes this season so he’s good to go.”
