James Boyle compared to Cristiano Ronaldo following stunning free kick for Ireland Amputee side

Ireland Amputee star James Boyle rattled home a stunning free kick to rival that of any set piece specialist in Ireland's clash with Liberia at the Amputee Football World Cup in Istanbul.

The game ultimately didn't go the way of the Boys in Green, with Liberia running out 6-3 winners in a high scoring contest.

Ruairi Murphy opened the scoring for Ireland after just two minutes before Boyle wowed with a gorgeous effort from the free kick.

Liberia answered, however, and three goals on the trot gave them the lead before they notched another just before the half-time whistle to go in 4-2 in front at the break.

A further two goals from Ireland's opponents left the game beyond Christy McElligott's side but Boyle did add a late consolation for Ireland - this time from a spot kick.

Despite the result, his free kick was certainly the main takeaway from the game as he walloped it into the top corner from range.

His right-footed effort was no sooner struck before it had gone beyond the despairing Liberia goalkeeper and into the top corner.

And Irish fans on Twitter were quick to react to the wondergoal.

One commented: "Pick that out!!! What a strike!!"

While another said: "WHAT A SCREAMER."

And one fan reserved even greater praise for Boyle as they favoured his set-pieces over those of one Cristiano Ronaldo.

They said: "He's better than Ronaldo at free kicks fair play."

The Irish side continue their World Cup adventure and with players like Boyle producing the goods to such an extent, they will be well worth cheering on for the remainder of the tournament.
