Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was placed in the concussion protocol following a collision during Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The incident occurred in the third quarter when Murray was cutting through the lane and collided with Timberwolves forward Julius Randle.
As Murray was being guarded by Anthony Edwards, Randle, who was backing up to defend Aaron Gordon, accidentally struck Murray's nose with his shoulder. The impact caused Murray's head to jerk back into Edwards, resulting in visible discomfort for the guard.
Murray continued to play for a few possessions after the collision before eventually subbing out during a timeout. He then proceeded to the locker room for further evaluation, and the Nuggets later announced that he would not be returning to the game.
At the time of his exit, Murray had contributed six points on 2-for-7 shooting along with three assists in 22 minutes of play.
This turn of events has raised concerns about Murray's health and availability for upcoming games as he undergoes the necessary concussion protocol assessments. The Nuggets will be closely monitoring his progress and providing updates on his condition as more information becomes available.
