The Tennessee Titans made a significant addition to their secondary on Thursday with the signing of veteran safety Jamal Adams.
Granted, Adams’ career has seen a decline in recent years after he was one of the best safeties in the NFL, but it’s a significant signing because he figures to have a starting role.
Adding to that, bringing Adams aboard improves the depth at the position because it pushes Elijah Molden to the No. 3 spot.
Shortly after the Titans announced the move, Adams sat down with The Voice of the Titans, Mike Keith, and summed up what he brings to the team with three words.
“Leadership, swagger, energy,” Adams said.
A surprise signing for the @titans. If you want to know why it’s a big deal, ask @Prez himself. #titans #titansradio #TitanUp pic.twitter.com/2TtIzTHgYE

The concerns about Adams are valid, but he’s the right fit for the Titans’ defense on paper.
His ability to play in the box makes him a great complement to Amani Hooker, and he’s at his best when sent to get after the quarterback, which fits the aggressive style of defense Tennessee will play.
