Jalen Ramsey not interested in talking up Bills ahead of season opener

It’s common practice for players and coaches to talk up the opposing team during press conferences the week of a game. Even when facing a terrible opponent, guys find ways to compliment the other team.

That’s happened a bunch already this week with Rams and Bills players heaving praise each other’s way. Jalen Ramsey refuses to partake in that exchange of kind words, however. He’s focused on the Rams and what they can do to beat the Bills on Thursday night.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Ramsey was asked about the Bills and he has no interest in talking up Los Angeles’ first opponent of the year.

“They’re good. They got a good team,” he began. “I ain’t gonna lie to y’all. I’m not about to sit up here and boost them up like y’all might want, like maybe other people are doing. I ain’t doing that. I ain’t gonna be extra. They good but we good, too, over here. So we’ll see them on Thursday, we’re gonna play football. But I ain’t gonna sit here and boost nobody up. I got respect for ‘em, but I got more respect for the game and the way I prepare and the way my teammates have been preparing and our trust and belief in each other. I’ll boost us up, I’ll talk about us and our preparation, but they can do that with them over there. We’re gonna go out there Thursday and put our best effort out there and do what we gotta do.”

Later on in his media session, Ramsey said he believes the Rams are “the best of the best over here,” which he’s happy to talk about.

“I’ll boost that up. I’ll talk about that, for sure, because I know we’ve been putting in that work,” Ramsey said.

There’s no question the Bills are a good team, maybe even the best on paper; they are, after all, the Super Bowl favorites. But the Rams are the defending champs and they’re well-equipped to make another run at a title in 2022.
