Arsenal are closing in on their second signing in the January transfer window. The Gunners completed a £21million deal to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton and are now focusing on securing a move for Jakub Kiwior.
The Poland international impressed at the World Cup in Qatar and was considered as a potential signing by Chelsea before the Blues moved for Benoit Badiashile instead. Kiwior fits the bill with Arsenal looking to add a left-sided centre-back to Mikel Arteta's squad, adding quality in depth in a key area of the team.
Kiwior can also play as a defensive midfielder, playing as a No. 6 19 times in the Italian top-flight last term, as per Transfermarkt. That will give Arsenal some much-needed cover in the centre of the pitch, with Arteta's side heavily relying on Thomas Partey to anchor their midfield in recent seasons.

Arsenal remain in talks to complete the signing of Kiwior from Spezia, football.london understands. The young defender has been spotted at an Italian airport as he prepares to fly to London to complete the necessary medical tests ahead of his move to the Emirates Stadium.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, a £17.5million fee plus add-ons has already been agreed with Spezia and the formalities of the deal are set to be completed. After weeks on talks over a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk, which eventually failed to come to fruition as the 22-year-old moved to Chelsea instead, Arsenal's transfer business is finally underway as Edu looks to strengthen Arteta's squad heading into the second half of the season.
