Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s hotly-anticipated rivalry revival will not come at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship after the latter announced he would miss Sunday’s 1500 metres final.
Ingebrigtsen returned from an 11-month lay-off last month in spectacular style, defending his European 5000m title in Birmingham, and on Friday night he claimed one of the $150,000 (£110,000) prizes at the inaugural Ultimate Championship when he beat the United States’ Cole Hocker over the same distance.
