Jake Roche enjoyed a stint on Emmerdale as well as a number one single - before ending up living in his mum's garage.
The son of Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie, 30, dubbed himself a 'failure' as he admitted his current plight, revealing he was surviving on universal credit amid the current cost of living crisis.
However, things weren't always so 'grim' for Jake.
In 2010 he bagged a role on Emmerdale playing Isaac Nuttall from August to October.
Isaac was the former boyfriend of Hannah Barton, before they transitioned to male and became known as Matty.
Jake said he didn't tell anyone about his famous parents at the audition because he "wanted to know I could hold my own in a job like this".
Despite only playing Isaac for a few months, Jake also starred as Matt in the musical film Rules of Love as well as appearing briefly in ITV's Scott and Bailey in 2012.
After dipping his toe into acting, the star enjoyed a successful pop career as the lead vocalist of Rixton.
The band bagged a number 1 with their hit, Me and My Broken Heart, which was released in 2014.
Taken from their album Let the Road, the track sold more than 1million copies.
The band, which used to be a four-piece, is now known as Push Baby with Jake and pal Charley Bagnall being signed to their own indie label.
After being asked what he'd been up to lately, Jake, who was previously engaged to Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, opened up about still living with his mum in a candid TikTok post.
The former soap star replied: "I'm on Universal Credit, and I live with my mum in her garage. I'm a failure."
Jake's parents have both enjoyed decades in the spotlight with dad Shane currently playing Alfie Moon in EastEnders and mum Coleen one of the stars of Loose Women.
However, the TikTok user was quick to comfort the celeb offspring with a touching reply.
"Firstly I'd like to say you are not a failure," they said. "Everyone goes through hardships in life and you will get through yours."
Taken aback, Jake then smiled before saying: "Thank you, you are a legend."
