Jake Paul told he will need to offer Nate Diaz more than $10million for boxing fight

Jake Paul has been warned he will need to make Nate Diaz an offer of more than $10million to lure him into the boxing ring.

The YouTube star has frequently attempted to entice Diaz into the boxing ring but his pleas have fallen on deaf ears due to his contract with the UFC. Now Diaz has revealed his plans to exit his current deal with the promotion which could open up plans to make a maiden appearance in the ring.

And PFL star Jake Shields believes that Paul needs to win a couple more boxing matches to assert his claim to face Diaz for a sizeable payday. "It's just, you know, probably if he wins a couple more boxing matches," Shields told Helen Yee. "[Nate Diaz] obviously needs to be out of his contract as well and it would have to be have to be a great payday. I mean, I imagine, money talks, you know.

"If he offers enough money, it would be a lot more likely to get him interested. He ain't going to fight him for you know $5-10 million. He's gonna have to offer a real payday."

Mirror Fighting understands Diaz would be the favoured match-up for Paul's return to the boxing ring this August providing he is somehow able to exit his contract before the planned August return date. Diaz planned to remain in the UFC and fight Dustin Poirier but he has been repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to secure a fight.

Diaz has previously suggested he would be open to fighting Paul and planned to create a boxing promotion label for him and his brother Nick to fight on. He turned up at Paul's recent rematch with Woodley but left the arena before his rival's sensational stoppage.

Paul has admitted that a bout with Diaz is unlikely to happen in the near future while he remains under contract with the UFC, but believes there is real beef between them. "There's real beef there, we've been talking s*** back-and-forth for a while now so I would love that," Paul told The Journey podcast. "I need to get excited to fight these guys, I want a challenge and to push myself to the limits.

"That's why I've taken on such tough opponents so far. He's under UFC contract so again Dana has to let him out of that if anything were to happen there. It's too much of a risk on their side of things."

Paul has returned to training after a break from the ring and is plotting his latest boxing exploit with a "big announcement" teased by his trainer BJ Flores. Several options could emerge for Paul including a renewed date with Tommy Fury who is set to compete on his brother Tyson's undercard on April 23.

The YouTube star has also made plans to compete in the UFC and offered company president Dana White a one-fight deal to face Conor McGregor.
