Jake Paul said what all Liverpool fans were thinking after Liverpool beat Newcastle United at the death.
The Reds were frustrated throughout the 90 minutes at Anfield with Eddie Howe’s side doing everything to slow the game after Alexander Isak gave them a first-half lead. But Roberto Firmino levelled just past the hour and, despite further streetwise tactics from the away side, Fabio Carvalho’s 98th-minute finish sent the Kop into rapture.
His close-range volley smashed off the underside of the bar to give Jurgen Klopp ’s side their second consecutive win and release the valve on a night of tension and frustration at Newcastle’s approach. And professional boxer Paul echoed the 50,000 inside the stadium in his relief come the final whistle.

Newcastle boss Howe may feel aggrieved that Liverpool won it so late - given that there were only five minutes added - but consistent time wasting tactics from the Magpies warranted those eight minutes at the least. Carvalho’s winner sparked equally wild celebrations in the home dugout - scenes that some of Howe’s staff weren’t too keen on, with verbals exchanged between the two benches.
The win takes Liverpool up to fifth on eight points and sends them into Saturday’s Merseyside Derby with back-to-back wins under their belt.
