Jake Paul's remarkable earnings during boxing career dwarf those of rival Tommy Fury

Jake Paul may have earned more than 3,000 per cent of Tommy Fury's boxing career earnings, according to a new study.

Fury is 8-0 as a professional boxer, and has been around the sport his whole life thanks to his dad John and brother Tyson; the world heavyweight champion. But he may have met his match in the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, who has emerged as a major star in the sport after knocking out every one of his opponents to go 5-0.

The Brit shot to fame on the 2019 season of Love Island, at which point he was just 2-0. And he could be set for a major US headliner against Paul in New York this summer, with his father saying that contract talks are still ongoing.

It would be far and away the biggest earning bout of Fury's young career, that has already seen him compete at Wembley Stadium on his brother's undercard as well as in America on one of Paul's. And a study from gambling aggregator Time2play indicates that there is no comparison between the pair's earnings, with the American's net worth over 30 times his rival.

Tommy Fury ’s net worth has been reported to be over £1million, while Jake Paul’s stands at a whopping £34million, meaning that Paul’s is 30 times Fury’s. The YouTuber was the third-highest earning boxer in the world last year, taking home a massive $45m, or around £37m.

He was supposed to face Fury in December at the Amalie Arena in Florida, but the fight was cancelled due to the Brit breaking a rib during training. Instead, Paul rematched former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, viciously stopping him with a highlight reel knockout.

The YouTube star then took an extended hiatus from the ring to help promote the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano undisputed lightweight title fight. And in the meantime, Fury defeated Daniel Bocianski at Wembley before calling for a second date with Paul.

"We’re looking at the Jake Paul situation but there’s a long way to go with it," Fury Senior told Metro, via Freebets earlier this week. "That’s still in negotiation and up in the air, the lawyers are dealing with it as we speak. If not August for Tommy’s next fight, it’ll be September because we’re busy ourselves up until then.

"I’m not interested in what Jake Paul does unless we’re fighting him, but he’s good for boxing. He’s bringing new eyes and he’s making a lot of noise.

"We’re trying our best to get the fight with Tommy over the line, but there are a couple of major factors we’re trying to get ironed out and if we can, we’ll do it, and if we can’t it’ll be someone else. Whoever’s out there and it’s sensible, we’ll get it on."
