Jake Paul's attempt to one-up Hasim Rahman Jr by releasing footage of their sparring session has backfired after fans claimed it was clear the experienced boxer was taking it easy.
Paul and Rahman Jr have been embroiled in a tit-for-tat over the session in 2020 since Paul pulled the plug on their fight last weekend. The pair were due to clash in New York last night but the fight was cancelled following a row over the weight limit.
Both men had previously released clips from the sparring session before YouTube star Paul uploaded the full 20-minute video. He claimed he was doing so to show he "beat [Rahman Jr's] a**" but fans had a very different view.
"The other guy (Rahman Jr) doesn’t even look like he’s trying. Only using one hand as well?!? He was coaching Jake during this," said one, while another added: "It seemed like Hasim was actually helping him n giving him tips rather than having a serious spar with Jake."
Another fan questioned Paul's decision to upload the footage, saying: "Why would he share this like his proving a point? It literally just proves that Hasim was right, it looks like a father sparing with his son. Hasim is putting in next to no effort while Jake looks stressed. If that fight actually took place last night then they would probably still be scraping Jake of the ring canvas right now."
A further commenter said: "From the sparring footage it seems like Hasim was training Jake rather than fighting him. On the other hand Jake was fighting like he was going 100 per cent, that's why Hasim got mad at the end. Its like when a big brother goes easy on his little brother on a video game, and then the little brother shows off."

Former professional fighter Ishe Smith also weighed in, backing Rahman Jr by observing: "In the video just posted with the sparring. Paul looks awful, I have seen a million of those in the gym. No wonder [he fights] MMA fighters and basketball players. Stop falling for the banana in the tailpipe."
Rahman Jr himself added his view, posting: "Boy doesn’t like his own medicine; make sure y’all check out that comment section too. You always give the truth? You didn’t decide to post anything besides clips from this session until I start uploading my own clips. As y’all can see, Jake Paul was surrounded by “yes-men” doing they best Bundini impressions, the boy couldn’t box oranges."
