Jake Paul returns to Puerto Rico gym as he considers boxing future

Jake Paul has returned to his boxing gym in Puerto Rico ahead of a potential return to the ring.

YouTube star turned boxer Paul vowed to take a seven-month layoff after his knockout win against Tyron Woodley last December.

The 25-year-old took his first holiday in six years and was able to fulfil his promise to Amanda Serrano, booking her in an undisputed lightweight title fight against Katie Taylor.

Paul signed Serrano to his management company, Most Valuable Promotions, last September after she won on the undercard of his first fight with Woodley.

Serrano will now challenge undefeated Taylor in the "biggest fight in women's boxing history", with the pair meeting at Madison Square Garden on April 30.

The fight is being promoted by Most Valuable Promotions and Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, which has come full circle for Paul as Hearn promoted his professional debut in 2020.

Paul fought four times in the space of 13 months as he improved to 5-0 in the ring by the end of last year.

He knocked out former NBA star Nate Robinson and retired MMA fighter Ben Askren before pursuing two fights with ex-UFC champion Woodley.

Dismissing a return against Tommy Fury after the Brit pulled out of their scheduled meeting last year, Paul wants former world titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr next.

"I want the fight," Paul told Mirror Fighting. " We have to figure out the set-up of it - obviously he's making bold asks right off the jump.

"But he's a little cuckoo, I think everybody in the boxing industry knows that he's a little cuckoo. So we'll see, I want the fight but some people are saying he might not even show up."

Paul previously laid out his plan to win ten boxing fights and win a world title only to retire from the sport and switch over to MMA.

But 'The Problem Child' is now keen on making his MMA debut this year which could put a date for his boxing return in question.

He posted a video training leg kicks in the gym and has held talks with the Professional Fighters League promotion over making a debut in the cage.

Paul also accepted an invitation from Khabib Nurmagomedov's Eagle FC promotion, but only if he could face the now-retired UFC great in his first fight.

Nurmagomedov and his former coach Javier Mendez had reportedly welcomed Paul to train at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose for his MMA debut.

But Mendez said other fighters at the gym would have to be in agreement of Paul's introduction, a routine process they use for all new gym members.
