Jake Paul suffered his first loss in the boxing ring on Sunday, falling to Tommy Fury via split decision for a 6–1 career record. Prior to the Saudia Arabia-based match, many believed Paul could take Fury down.
Among those supporters was music superstar Drake, who was rumored to have bet $400,000 on Paul to win. When Paul heard about this after the match, he joked that it was Drake’s fault he lost.
“F---, this is Drake’s fault?” he asked, sarcastically. “Drake bro, why’d you do this to me?”
The reporter who asked the question mentioned the “Drake curse,” a running joke that any team or athlete the rapper supports ultimately loses. But, Paul had nothing against Drake’s choice to back him.
“Nah, it’s my fault,” Paul said of the match. “$400,000 is nothing to him, he’s won a lot more money betting on me before so he’s probably about even now.”
Paul then apologized to Drake for losing him money, but Paul is looking for a rematch vs. Fury, one that he hopes will feature a different result.
“Sorry, Drake, I’m gonna get that ‘W’ in the rematch,” Paul said.
