Jake Paul criticised over boxing technique having said same about Conor McGregor

Jake Paul is being slated over his boxing technique just weeks after he mocked Conor McGregor for his poor head movement.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer is working towards an August ring return after a lengthy lay-off following his win over Tyron Woodley in December. And he took to social media to share a video showing himself hitting the reflex bag, which has been mercilessly mocked by fans in the comments.

Paul tweeted a brief video throwing right hands at the reflex bag with the caption "Someone’s getting knocked out in August. Who should it be?" But instead of getting prospective opponents, Paul was met with a number of comments advising him how better to hit the target, including critiques of his general boxing technique

One wrote: "Anyone that uses the reflex bag knows it takes time to get used to - however he should be moving around which makes it wayyyy harder." Another responded to that comment by saying that it's "not hard to time a straight at it over and over from the same position with the same hand."

Another added: "I’ve seen far worse boxers who have even doing this their entire lives I don’t like the foot placement stance is too wide imo and it limits mobility."

Those were the kinder comments, with some messages simply reading "He looks terrible, no bulls***," and another adding "idea is to move you d***head".

Paul is no stranger to making these types of comments, having told McGregor that he must work on his head movement during a pad drill earlier this year. The Irishman posted a video of his trainer holding pads in the sun while he throws shots, but Paul was unimpressed and offered some pointers of his own.

"This is embarrassing, Conor," Paul wrote in a social media post. "Your chin is wide open with no head movement for the PRBLM CHILD [Paul's nickname] right hand of God."

McGregor hit back with a brief video, the first time he has publicly acknowledged a Paul insult directly. He showed himself getting out of bed and manoeuvring his head before jokingly calling Paul a "jacka**".

Paul has been pushing for a crossover fight with McGregor for the past two years, although the Irishman and UFC boss Dana White don't appear particularly keen on the prospect. The former two-weight world champion did, however, refuse to rule out a future bout with Paul when speaking with Mirror Fighting earlier this year, telling fans "never say never" about the fight.

However, McGregor is more focused on a return to the octagon this year, having come back from a gruesome broken leg suffered last summer at UFC 264. He is looking for an historic welterweight title opportunity against Kamaru Usman, but will likely need to face another opponent before that is possible.
