YouTube star Jake Paul admits Tommy Fury fight is his toughest test yet

Jake Paul has admitted that fighting Tommy Fury will be a tougher test than any other in his young boxing career.

The YouTube star turned professional in 2020 after just one white-collar bout, while Fury had a brief amateur career and a number of fights before his rival's debut. Tommy is the younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson and the son of coach and former fighter John.

Paul, 25, and Fury, 23, finally inked terms for their bout on Thursday and it will take place on August 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. There were concerns on the Brit's end about drug testing as well as separate travel bans stopping his brother and father from coming to America to corner him.

But the deal was completed in the early hours of the morning, when all terms were agreed. In an at-times emotional video posted to his 20million-plus subscribers on YouTube entitled 'The Biggest Risk Of My Career', Paul explained why he is so excited about the fight.

"All jokes aside, this is my toughest test yet," Paul said. "You guys wanted me to fight a real boxer, you guys have been tormenting me day in and day out.

"You tell me to 'fight a real boxer', the answer is 'no f***ing problem'. As far as real boxers, this is as real as it gets. Tommy Fury comes from a legendary bloodline of fighters; the gypsies who have been mauling people since they were f***ing born.

"For Christ's sake, his brother is the heavyweight champion of the world, his dad went to jail for ripping someone's eye out. Tommy Fury has been boxing since he was 12 years old, gone through the amateurs."

Paul has often mocked Fury's abilities during the lead-up to both this fight date and their cancelled December bout. But he praised him for his recent win over Daniel Bocianski on the undercard of his brother's victory over Dillian White in April, as well as his background in the sport.

"He just mauled a 10-1 boxer, knocked him to the ground," Paul continued. "The Fury name is just as infamous as the Mayweathers, their whole entire family; all they know is box.

"To put this into perspective as to what's going on, this is like if Tommy Fury tried to start a vlog channel to out-vlog me and Logan [his brother]. It's not f***ing possible, it's everyday bro!

"I'm going into their territory, I'm going into their sport - like I said, Tommy's been boxing since he was like 12 years old, this is part of his blood."

Paul continued: "Tommy Fury is taller than me, has been boxing four times as long as me, has longer arms than me and he has way more ring experience than me. This is by far my toughest test yet.

"I'm taking a huge step forward in my career. I could continue to fight big name MMA fighters and beat the s*** out of them but I want a tough test."

Paul and Fury haven't seen one another since they shared a card back in August, but that all changes in New York next week, when they will attend a launch press conference for the event.
