Gyllenhaal revealed that Conor McGregor's tattoos in the film were covered up with makeup, possibly due to copyright concerns. Despite not having any tattoos himself, Gyllenhaal expressed the significance of honoring Swayze, who he had worked with on the film Donnie Darko.
