Jak Alnwick is a pre-contract target for Aberdeen as Jim Goodwin makes a push for his old St Mirren No. 1.
Dons boss Goodwin is keen to land his former goalkeeper on a free transfer for the summer.
The 28-year-old is out-of-contract with the Buddies at the end of the season.
Goodwin, out of respect to Buddies, will make an official approach to his former club to state his intentions.
The former Rangers and Newcastle United keeper also has options in England but Goodwin is hoping the lure of Pittodrie will take him north.
He signed Alnwick from Rangers back in 2020 and was a big player for him in Paisley.
St Mirren had previously opened talks over an extension but Alnwick has decided to keep his options open.
Goodwin wants to strengthen and add competition throughout his squad, in a bid to get Aberdeen back-up challenging at the top end of the table again.
He already had Joe Lewis and Gary Woods under contract for next season but if he could add Alnwick then that would give him real strength and depth between the sticks.
