Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander told reporters on Wednesday that he plans to improve his communication after serving a one-game suspension for unofficially declaring himself as one of the team’s three captains in the Packers’ 33–30 win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16.
Alexander did not play in the Packers’ 33-10 victory against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17, a contest that Green Bay had to win to keep its playoff aspiration alive. However, Alexander will play in Green Bay’s season finale on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur.
When reporters asked Alexander about the one-week suspension, the two-time Pro Bowler considered it a learning experience and one he hopes to use as a process to communicate better.
“There’s definitely things I could have improved upon during that week to help with communication,” Alexander said, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “Moving forward, that won’t happen again.”
Prior to the Packers’ matchup against the Panthers, the sixth-year cornerback had not played in the franchise’s previous six games due to a shoulder injury. Now, Alexander returns for a pivotal NFC North battle against the Bears with potential playoff spot on the line.

If Green Bay defeats Chicago, it will earn a spot in the postseason. The Packers (8–8) will play host to the Bears (7–9) at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
