Monday night was a rough one for the Green Bay Packers. On the road in Las Vegas, Green Bay had a chance to climb above .500, but Jordan Love’s lost and listless offense sunk those chances summarily. It was apparent that Love and his receivers were never on the same page as he threw three poor interceptions — including one in the end zone on Green Bay’s final possession — in a 17-13 defeat.
After the game, perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander made some rather interesting comments. He claimed that Green Bay’s mostly solid defense (it’s actually had significant issues of its own, for what it’s worth) probably can’t give up touchdowns anymore to help lift the struggling offense. And you know what?
He probably (?) meant it in a nice way, given all the youth playing for Green Bay’s attack:
“Yeah I think at this point it’s pretty obvious that the defense has to not give up any touchdowns,” said Packers CB Jaire Alexander. “The offense is pretty young and they’re still figuring out their mojo. The defense, we gotta be the ones to score and stop them from scoring.” pic.twitter.com/DrItb9B0c5

Far be it from me to question Alexander’s sentiment, but this reeks of a teammate being way too kind to his football colleagues. The Packers’ offense is broken — it’s just 16th in expected points added (EPA), and Love is one of the league’s worst and least efficient quarterbacks through five games. Losing a winnable affair to the Raiders should be sounding the alarm bells for everyone affiliated with the green and gold.
Kudos to Alexander for not venting any more frustration because it’d be understandable if he did.
This was how Twitter reacted
Jaire “Safety Help” Alexander being a bad teammate again. You can think this. But you can’t say it publicly. https://t.co/yW7fIoBpWU

This is sad. Defense should never have to feel like this. Jaire basically said the offense Is pathetic without saying it. We are in shambles. I predict this team will not win more than 3 more games https://t.co/UUxRoR84Rd

Basically can’t let teams score to have a chance to win. That’s a tough task.
