JAIPUR: Residents of Murlipura Sectors A, B, C, and D are having to do with low water pressure amid severe heatwave conditions.
It’s been a month and even after protests, the water pressure is not improving. While holding a protest on Saturday, residents said without a proper water supply, sustenance was not possible.
Manoj Saini, a resident of Sector A of the area said water was being supplied only for 15 minutes with such low pressure that it was difficult for them to fill up even four buckets. Many residents were either filling up with tankers or going and public parks, Saini said.
Sushma Sharma from Sector C complained that the PHED officials did not do much in resolving the issue and due to the low-pressure people had stopped using coolers in the afternoon.
Ward 16 councillor Deepmala Sharma said she got 10 complaints about water pressure every day. "I am fed up with filing complaints in the department. We protested on Saturday in the colonies to get proper water pressure in the city, but nothing happened. We will not sit quiet and if PHED doesn’t solve this problem we will again take out a big rally against this," warned Sharma.
PHED officials assured that they will look into the matter, but also added that the public used illegal boosters. "One important reason for the low pressure is that residents are using boosters illegally which sucks water from the pipeline. We are catching a lot of people who are using these boosters due to which the water pressure is affected," said an official of PHED.
