JAIPUR: City police are probing a case of gold heist after a workshop owner alleged that his staffers decamped with 600 grams of gold brought in for jewellery works.
The FIR was filed at Ramganj police station on Monday where an Amber-based resident claimed that he runs a jewellery workshop in Ghee Walon ka Rasta near the Johari Bazar area. About a year ago, he had hired a 31-year-old worker and three of his friends to work in the workshop.
On Sunday, one of the workers left the workshop to go to the market.
When the owner returned to his workshop on Monday morning, he found that workers were missing and called them up. Their mobile phones were switched off.
A worried owner checked work tables in the workshop and found that 600 grams of gold which was brought for jewellery related work were missing.
As per the police, the victim had given the gold to his workers a few days ago for work.
The victim in his FIR suspected the involvement of four of his workers in the gold heist.
While the victim has claimed a pre-meditated conspiracy by his staffers, Ramganj police have constituted a special team to track the accused.
The complainant had also shared phone numbers, Aadhaar and PAN card numbers of the chief accused in the case.
“We are examining the evidence in the case to track down the accused, including verification of places where the four workers stayed in Jaipur,” said an official.
