The Jaguars swapped defensive ends in a pair of Friday roster moves, announcing they have signed Joe Gaziano and released Rasheem Green.
Gaziano spent the 2023 season with the Falcons, under former Atlanta and current Jacksonville defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen.
An undrafted free agent from Northwestern in 2020, Gaziano began his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers for three seasons before moving east to join the Falcons last year.
Gaziano has recorded 24 tackles including two for loss, one sack and one defended pass in 23 career appearances, including one start with Los Angeles in 2021.
Pro Football Focus credits Gaziano with 13 career quarterback pressures over 113 pass rush snaps.
Jacksonville originally signed Green alongside defensive end Raymond Johnson III and linebacker Tanner Muse on July 30, waiving undrafted rookies, defensive end Andre Carter and linebacker Trey Kiser, in corresponding moves.
A third-round draft pick by Seattle in 2018, Green has recorded 151 tackles with 19 for loss, 19 sacks, eight defended passes, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in six seasons. He had one tackle in the Jaguars’ preseason opener against the Chiefs on Saturday.
