The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed former Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds off waivers on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
Reynolds, 29, will now get a fresh start in Jacksonville after being waived by Denver on Tuesday. The Broncos had to activate the receiver from injured reserve or cut him by Wednesday or he would remain on reserve for the rest of the season. By waiving him, Denver allowed Reynolds to continue playing, now with a new team.
Jacksonville has also picked up Reynolds’ contract, so the Broncos will save the $623,611 salary he was due for the final five weeks of the season.
Unfortunately for Reynolds, he won’t be joining a Trevor Lawrence-led offense. The Jaguars placed Lawrence on injured reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a concussion in Week 13. Jacksonville is now presumably set to start Mac Jones to close out the season.
The Jaguars have already been eliminated from playoff contention, so they will be playing for jobs down the stretch. If Reynolds impresses in the final five games of the season, he might be a candidate to return in 2025.
Reynolds hauled in 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with Denver before landing on IR with a finger injury. He was also shot after leaving a nightclub in October but has since recovered from minor wounds.
