Jaguars elevate WR Jacob Harris to active roster with Zay Jones out

The Jacksonville Jaguars are elevating veteran wide receiver Jacob Harris from the practice squad to the active roster for a Week 3 game against the Houston Texans, the team announced Saturday.

The decision comes a day after Zay Jones was ruled out for Sunday due to a knee injury suffered in a Week 2 loss.

Harris, 26, was signed by the Jaguars in May after impressing in a minicamp tryout. He continued to stand out in training camp practices as well as preseason where he made one of the most impressive plays of any player in August.

While Harris didn’t make the final 53-man roster, the Jaguars brought him back to the practice squad after he cleared waivers.

Prior to his stint in Jacksonville, Harris was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. But in two seasons with the team, he caught just one pass for six yards.

The Jaguars now have eight receivers on the active roster after the move, although rookies Parker Washington and Elijah Cooks were both healthy scratches in the first two weeks.
