Jaguars 2023 roster review: QB Nathan Rourke

The brunt of the offseason is in the books and training camp is still off on the horizon. Join us in the NFL’s dead zone with a player-by-player review of the Jaguars roster ahead of the 2023 season.

There was no shortage of interest when Canadian Football League star Nathan Rourke made a tour of NFL teams in 2022. After reportedly visiting a dozen teams, CFL’s reigning Most Outstanding Canadian opted to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A starting job is out of the question for Rourke with Trevor Lawrence ahead of him on the depth chart. Earning the second spot will probably be difficult too with C.J. Beathard brought back earlier this offseason.

Still, Rourke is an intriguing addition to the Jaguars roster who has a chance to be the team’s backup for the foreseeable future.

Contract (2023): $750,000 base salary, $1,666 prorated signing bonus, $751,666 cap hit.

Acquired: Jaguars signed Rourke to a contract on Jan. 16, 2023.

PFF grades: N/A

Statistics:

  • 3,349 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, 10 interceptions (2022 – BC Lions)

Highlight:

Quote: “It’s been pretty surreal to be honest. It’s one of those things where you kind of have to pinch yourself and it kind of has to sink in still for me, just with where I’m at, who my teammates are, and just kind of the scale of things.” – Rourke
