The brunt of the offseason is in the books and training camp is still off on the horizon. Join us in the NFL’s dead zone with a player-by-player review of the Jaguars roster ahead of the 2023 season.
De’Shaan Dixon pulled off a difficult feat last year when he made the 53-man roster with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted rookie. But his unlikely path to a spot on the active roster didn’t result in much play time.
Instead, Dixon spent most of his rookie season as a healthy scratch on a weekly basis. He appeared in only three regular season games and recorded just one tackle.
But Dixon will try to stick on the roster in 2023 at a different position. Earlier in the offseason, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson revealed that Dixon has added weight and will instead play on the defensive line rather than continue at outside linebacker.
With little depth behind Roy Robertson-Harris and Folorunso Fatukasi, Dixon could provide an intriguing talent with pass rushing skills to the interior of the Jaguars’ front seven.
Contract (2023): $870,000 base salary, $4,000 prorated signing bonus, $874,000 cap hit.
Acquired: Jaguars signed Dixon as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2022.

Quote: “De’Shaan, we’ve actually moved him inside as an interior D-Lineman. He’s bulked up a little bit and gained some weight, good weight. It’d be good for him to take that versatility from outside to move him inside, so there’s another two-way player for you.” – Jaguars coach Doug Pederson on Dixon
