The NFLPA announced its Rookie Premiere class of 2022 this week, and one rookie from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ most recent rookie class was among the group. That player was first overall pick, Travon Walker.
Walker will join 41 other rookies as a result of his selection. He joins the group after both Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne made the class last season. The year before that, receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. was the player who represented the Jags.
Below is an explanation of the annual list, according to the NFLPA.
Following two years of virtual engagement, 42 top rookies from the 2022 NFL Draft will again gather in Los Angeles on May 19-21 to learn the business of football and jumpstart endorsement careers at the 28th annual NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Rookie Premiere presented by Panini America, the exclusive trading card partner of the NFLPA. Hosted by the NFLPA and its marketing and licensing arm, NFL Players Inc., the annual event for many of the game’s marketable rookie stars will feature the unveiling of each rookie’s official jersey presented by Fanatics and Saturday’s all-day live action and studio shoot for Panini trading cards.
Walker is expected to mostly be an edge rusher for the Jags after spending a lot of his time as a defensive lineman with the Bulldogs. The Jags will be pairing him with another Southeastern Conference standout in Josh Allen in hopes of restoring the pass-rush fans saw from their infamous Sacksonville group many years ago.
In addition to working with one of the top trading card companies in the world in Panini America, Walker and the other rookies will get the opportunity to also work with other companies like Fanatics, Dapper Labs, Electronic Arts Sports, and StatusPro.
