The Jacksonville Jaguars will have five of their seven draft picks signed on Friday when they start rookie minicamp Friday. Two of those picks are their first round selections in linebackers Travon Walker and Devin Lloyd.
The team also was able to ink deals with running back Snoop Conner and cornerbacks Gregory Junior and Montaric Brown.
The @Jaguars have signed the following five 2022 draft selections to their rookie contracts, the club announced today:
•OLB Travon Walker
•LB Devin Lloyd
•RB Snoop Conner
•CB Gregory Junior
•CB Montaric Brown— JaguarsPR (@JaguarsPR) May 12, 2022
Walker’s contract agreement news was reported early on Thursday. NFL reporter Jordan Schultz also reported that Lloyd had agreed to terms Thursday afternoon before the Jags did.
The Jags took both Walker and Lloyd after the Jags had a disappointing season defensively and ranked 20th overall. That resulted in them wanting to add another pass-rusher to help Josh Allen in Walker and replacing Myles Jack with Lloyd.
As for Conner, the Jags were expected to add some help behind Travis Etienne and James Robinson after both had season-ending injuries in 2021. That resulted in Conner getting a call from the Jags in the fifth round and he should bring a ground and pound presence similar to Robinson’s.
The Jags’ secondary needed depth heading into the draft, which is why the team drafted Junior and Brown in the last two rounds. Now both will compete behind the Jags’ top-3 cornerbacks in Shaquill Griffin, Tyson Campbell, and Darious Williams. That means they will challenge notables like Tre Herndon and Chris Claybrooks, alongside the other corners on the roster.
With the Jags making these five signings, only their third round selections in center Luke Fortner and linebacker Chad Muma remain unsigned.
