Jadon Sancho's sneaky gesture spotted by fans after scoring Man Utd opener vs Tottenham

Jadon Sancho struck his first goal in more than two months to put Manchester United 1-0 up in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

Sancho has endured a disappointing season so far, but delivered for manager Erik ten Hag after being recalled to the starting line-up. He was the only change Ten Hag made from the side which beat Brighton on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final last week, replacing Anthony Martial.

It took just seven minutes for Sancho to make an impact as he produced an excellent finish to score United's opener. As he ran off in celebration, Sancho cupped his ear before being congratulated by his teammates.

And some football fans believe the celebration was in reference to some of the criticism he has received this year. "Sancho raising that ear in the celly, that's right boi," wrote one.

"Dunno about the ear cup he's missed a s*** load of games and when available has barely done f*** all," added a second. A third questioned: "Don't get how he can cup his ear like he's bagged loads weird when he did the same Vs city".

Despite Sancho receiving criticism from some quarters, the forward has been repeatedly backed by Ten Hag. After Sancho scored in the penalty shoot-out against Brighton, the Dutchman insisted he was confident the winger would kick on.

"I think also we have seen in the season many times very good performances from Jadon," Ten Hag said. "And I think definitely that moment on Sunday will strengthen him even more, give him more courage, more belief, definitely.

"We all know what happened and I think you have to recognise it and reward it, what he did on Sunday; to step behind the ball. And it was such a good penalty."

Despite Sancho getting United off to a perfect start with his goal, the Red Devils were unable to secure all three points as Spurs made an impressive comeback to draw the game.
