Jada Pinkett Smith 's infamous 'entanglement' was a topic of conversation on the red carpet last night.
Actress Laverne Cox was chatting with the Girls Trip star and husband Will Smith, 53, when the couple's past marriage woes came up.
The Inventing Anna star, 49, was co-hosting the E! red carpet coverage on Sunday night, and didn't shy away from potentially awkward situations.
"We love you. Thank you for all the years of joy you’ve brought us," Laverne told Will during their brief interview.
Turning to Jada, 50, the Orange is the New Black star then added: "Thank you. We cant wait for more 'Red Table Talk' and more entanglements."
Will and Jada first discussed The Matrix star's extramarital relationship with singer August Alsina during an episode of Red Table Talk in 2020.
The mum-of-two's choice of words to label her 2015 tryst with Alsina, 29, inspired thousands of memes and internet commentary about the 'entanglement'.
Jada said at the time she didn’t consider it a 'transgression' because she and Will - who took home best male actor in a film at the awards on Sunday night - were on a break.
The pair both took Laverne's potentially awkward comment with good grace and humour, before heading into the ceremony.
"No more of those," Jada replied, with a small grin across her face.
Laverne agreed, adding: "No more entanglements, no more entanglements! I love you, girl. I’m just kidding. I’m just joshin’ you."
Viewers watching the red carpet footage loved the 'messy' interview - taking to social media to share their shock at Laverne's questioning.
"Laverne Cox knows she's messy for that entanglement talk with Will and Jada," one fan tweeted, with another adding: "Omg...I yelled out "NO SHE DIDN'T!!" She'll never be able to interview them AGAIN! LOL."
"Laverne Cox bringing up Jada Pinkett Smith’s 'entanglement' in front of Jada and Will on the red carpet… iconic behaviour," a third wrote online on Sunday night.
In June 2020, rapper August claimed on The Breakfast Club that he was in a relationship with Jada with The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star's 'blessing'.
After initially denying the claims, Will and Jada went on to admit she had a romance with the singer when they were secretly separated in 2015.
"I was done with your a**, marriages have that though," Will recalled during an explosive episode of Red Table Talk in 2020.
"We broke up," Jada added, as the pair reflected on the build up to her relationship with August.
Pushing her to reveal the relationship, Will then asked his wife: "And then what did you do, Jada?"
Jada confessed: "As time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August."
The actress expanded on the 'entanglement' in a further Red Table Talk with her mum, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, admitting: "Yes, it was a relationship, absolutely. I was in a lot of pain, and I was very broken."
Will and Jada tied the knot in 1997 and share two children together; son Jaden Smith, 23, and daughter Willow Smith, 21.
