Celtic star Jacynta Galabadaarachchi has criticised Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker for mentioning her relationship with Carl Starfelt on air.
It happened during last week's SWPL match between Celtic and Rangers at the Excelsior.
When the cameras picked up the Celtic men's side defender sitting in the stand, Crocker said the reason was because he was supporting his partner, Jacynta. The game ended in a 1-0 win for Rangers.
Speaking at yesterday's media day for the PFA Scotland player of the year awards, the 21-year-old Australian said: “I think that the TV stations need to focus on the football and not my personal life.
“I don't think my personal life is anything to do with the game and it did not need to be mentioned. I want people to come along and help promote the women’s game rather than worrying about what I am doing away from the pitch.
“If you ask anyone who knows me, I am a very private person. I would love people to come to the games to offer their support, but not to pry into things that are of my own concern.”
Jacynta, who was last year's PFA Scotland young player of the year, has again been nominated in that category.
She is also one of three Celtic players in the running for the player of the year award – Caitlin Hayes and Amy Gallacher are the others – with Rangers winger Brogan Hay the fourth nominee.
