Factory workers are set to walk out next week following a dispute over pay.
Hundreds of members of staff at the Jacob's factory in Aintree are set to walk out on Monday, September 26 in what will be the first in a series of 12-hour stoppages at the site. As the cost of living crisis continues to grip households across the UK, employees are fighting for a "fairer pay deal".
The Jacob's factory on Long Lane in Aintree produces millions of cream crackers each year - with more than half a billion individual Jacob’s crackers sold each year. Employing hundreds of staff, the site has been operating in Aintree for over 100 years and it was the first ever Jacob’s factory to be built in England.

One worker, who did not wish to be named, said their union put forward a 8.5% pay rise which was "refused". Now, they are planning to fight for a fairer pay deal as strike begins from next week "until a deal is reached".
A spokesperson for GMB Union told the ECHO that staff at Pladis (Jacobs) Aintree have voted to take strike action and the first date will be on September 26. They said: "GMB members voted overwhelmingly in favour of both strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over pay.
"The action short of strike commenced on September 5 in the form of an overtime ban and a ban on training colleagues on the transfer of skills. September 26 will be the first in a series of 12 hour stoppages at the site."
A spokesperson for Pladis added: "I can confirm that we have been informed by the GMB that some of its members at our factory in Aintree are intending to take strike action on 26. We are continuing to proactively engage with our employees and their representatives to seek a resolution."
