Jacket Potato's Masked Singer identity a done deal as 'undeniable' proof surfaces online

On the eve of this year's Masked Singer semi final, viewers of the show and fans of a certain rock band claim to have found proof that confirms beyond all doubt that Jacket Potato is Richie Sambora.

It was on the second episode of the new series that Jacket Potato made his debut and both people watching at home and the celebrity panel in the studio immediately shot down his American singing and speaking voice as he covered Elvis classic Viva Las Vegas.

Names like Bradley Walsh, Brian Conley and Shane Richie were thrown into the ring as potential stars in the Jacket Potato costume, as viewers became sure he was British, with some saying they recognised EastEnders actor and former stage star Shane's vocals by the time the first chorus kicked in.

However, in the weeks that have followed Jacket Potato's Masked Singer debut, Bon Jovi fans are convinced beyond all doubt that its Richie behind the mask, thanks to a 50% clue, which they took to be a nod to the 'halfway there' line in Livin' On A Prayer, a jar with offensive names in - You Give Love A Bad Name and Jacket Potato trying to turn a tap on for a slip and slide - a not so subtle reference to Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet

One of the songs Jacket Potato, who even played guitar on last week's show, has sung on the Masked Singer is Hallelujah and it's that song that looks like being the clincher as a video of a performance Richie gave in St Luke's Church, London in December features him covering the track and sounding very much like Jacket Potato. The YouTube video has now gathered a load of interest from Masked Singer viewers and, rather interestingly, comments on it have now been turned off.

But that hasn't stopped people talking about it on Twitter, with one social media user commenting: "Richie sambora listen to him singing hallelujah on YouTube and then potato singing it. Exactly the same" and a second tweeting: "Spoiler alert. Baked Potato from #MaskedSingerUK is Richie Sambora. Just watch hallelujah, and Richie singing."
