Jack Wilshere is attracting interest from clubs in Greece and Italy as well as the Championship, football.london understands.
The Hale Ender, who made 198 appearances for Arsenal, found himself without a club in the summer after being released by Bournemouth, and was invited back to train with Mikel Arteta's side at London Colney as he seeks to get a new one.
During that time the England international has also spent time working with the Gunners' youth set up in order to help him with his coaching badges for a potential career once he retires from professional football.
For now though he would like to carry on playing and it seems as though Wilshere may be moving closer to finding himself a new team.
The 30-year-old is being looked at by Italian side Monza and Greek team AEK Athens as well as a host of Championship clubs, football.london understands.
Despite this though he is still expected to join up with Mikel Arteta's squad for their midseason trip to Dubai, and is due to fly out tomorrow.
However, the England international is hopeful of securing a move in the next two weeks, and if this means that he has to leave the Gunners camp in the UAE ahead of schedule then he is willing to do so.
This would seem to put an end to romantic suggestions that Wilshere could make a return to the Emirates to help out with Arsenal's depth issues in midfield.
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles having joined Roma on loan, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey both picking up red cards and Mohamed Elneny still away with Egypt at AFCON, the Gunners' only orthodox senior option in the middle of the park for games against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Burnley has been Albert Sambi Lokonga.
With Bruno Guimaraes now likely to join Newcastle and a loan move for Arthur Melo of Juventus proving tricky to get over the line, it seemed as though Wilshere could provide an experienced addition to the squad if brought in on a short term deal.
Despite saying that the 30-year-old is ready to play at Premier League level though, Arteta has always maintained that that was not Arsenal's intention.
"That's a different story," the Spaniard said when pushed on if he could be tempted to give Wilshere a pay-as-you-play type contract.
For his part Wilshere seems to be open to the idea of a move abroad having only ever played in England with Arsenal, Bolton, West Ham and Bournemouth in his career so far.
"I 100% think I can still play," he told BBC Sport in an interview last year.
"I don't care what people say or write or what they say on social media. I am an honest guy. If I didn't think I could, I would be the first to say 'enough, I am going to do something else'.
"But I am almost at the point where I think something different, abroad, might be beneficial to me."
