Jack Whitehall has described how girlfriend Roxy Horner collapsed at the Brit Awards.
The comedian revealed that Horner was rushed to hospital following the 2021 incident, when he had been hosting the annual ceremony.
Whitehall said the model discovered she had “Type 1 diabetes that night.”
“She had something called a diabetic hypo and she fainted,” added the 34-year-old presenter.
“Paramedics were trying to resuscitate her and her sugar levels were spiking dangerously.
“We ended up in A&E on the night of the Brits, which definitely made for a slightly different vibe of an after-party.
“The year before I was hobnobbing with Stormzy and Sir Elton John, and this time I was sitting in the emergency room of an A&E unit... next to a Scottish gentleman who smelled of Special Brew,” he continued.
Whitehall then poked fun at the situation, stating that his girlfriend’s reaction had been a result of pop star Harry Styles being at the music bash.
“The Brits is obviously the worst place to have a medical emergency as the only doctor in the house was Dre,” he said during his gig at Southend-on-Sea, Essex, this week.
“To be fair I was experiencing quite a lot of the symptoms of a diabetic hypo while I was watching Harry as well.”
Before the May 2021 diagnosis, Horner said she had felt “tired and exhausted all the time”.
“I had no energy,” she said. “I couldn’t even go for a walk. It was draining.
“I felt like I was dying. I was drinking four to eight litres of water a day.”
Horner, who has since gone on to raise awareness, said of Whitehall, who she’s been with for three years: “Jack’s been my absolute rock, he’s so lovely.
“He was there when I got diagnosed. My parents and my family live in Australia, so he has been my family. We’re amazing.”
