Jack Ross lands plum Newcastle coaching role as ex Sunderland boss makes North East return

Jack Ross has landed a plum role with mega rich Newcastle United.

The former Sunderland boss was sacked by Dundee United at the end of August after only seven matches in charge, However, those included a 9-0 defeat at home to celtic and a 7-0 Uefa Conference League thrashing by Dutch cracks AZ Alkmaar. But after six months out of the game, he’s been appointed as the Magpies’ interim head of coach development on a short-term basis.

The former Hibs manager, who guided the Leith club to third and two cups finals during his time at Easter Road, will oversee the club’s academy coaches, working closely with academy director and former Toon goalkeeper Steve Harper with an eye on the club's coaching structure from Under 9 to Under 16 age groups Harper said: "Jack is a very experienced manager, coach and coach educator. His knowledge and experience will be of huge benefit to us during his time here."
