New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones is strongly pushing back on an earlier report that he talked back to coach Bill Belichick.
The report came in January after Jones was suspended by the team. There were questions regarding the reasoning behind that suspension, but according to Jones, it had nothing to do with him mouthing off to Belichick.
Along with the brush-up with the Patriots’ coach, the initial report mentioned Jones being late and missing scheduled rehab sessions. When addressing fans on Twitter, Jones called out the Belichick part of the report as “false.”
“I never mouthed off at Bill idk where y’all getting that from,” Jones posted on social media on Thursday.

Twitter users started to point out to Jones that the information came from a report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, which prompted the Patriots’ second-year cornerback to address Breer directly.
@AlbertBreer please don’t write false stories. how you portray the players to the media could help or hurt our career im not asking you not to do your job but DONT LIE @AlbertBreer https://t.co/zW6PN9KE0Z

Jones had a strong start to his rookie season with the Patriots before an injury and suspension brought an early end to his season. There’s hope he can break out in a talented defensive backfield likely spearheaded by rookie first-round draft pick Christian Gonzalez and veteran corner Jonathan Jones.
