Jack Grealish among five Man City players picked in Team of the Week after win vs Wolves

Five Manchester City players have made Garth Crooks' team of the week following the impressive 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's side secured three more Premier League points at Molineux, thanks to goals from Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden. It took just 55 seconds for Grealish to open the scoring, and City never looked back.

Haaland made it seven consecutive games in which he has scored for the Blues, adding his 11th league goal of the season. Kevin de Bruyne found Foden in the second-half with a low cross, registering his sixth assist in seven Premier League appearances, as City made it 3-0 in the 69th minute.

Much of the build-up had been focused on Grealish's struggles in City's mid-week victory over Borussia Dortmund, as questions over the £100million price-tag reared their heads. However, Guardiola was adamant that his faith in the former Aston Villa midfielder has never wavered.

He said: “I said to them many times they are here because I trust them unconditionally, all of them. I know them. I trust them unconditionally and Jack is not an exception."

Crooks picked Grealish in his Premier League 'Team of the Week', claiming that the win over Wolves saw the 27-year-old's best performance yet in a City shirt.

He said: "It wasn't just his willingness to get in the six-yard box where it hurts that was impressive, but his link-up play with Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland was telling — a further indication he's no longer intimidated by his surroundings and finally starting to settle in and produce his best work."

De Bruyne unsurprisingly joined Grealish in the midfield selection for Crooks' team, with Manuel Akanji also being selected in defence after his "quietly effective' game. Stones was picked alongside City's new signing in defence, as he continues to impress in Kyle Walker's absence.

The former Manchester United player said: "Stones looked as competent as any defender on the pitch [against Dortmund], and so too in the game against Wolves at the weekend...Stones is the only English centre-back who is showing any consistent form at the moment."

Haaland was the last, but by no means least, of the City quintet. Crooks said: "Everything he touches at the moment seems to fly into the back of the net."

In truth, it was an all-round competent display against Wolves, that could have seen even more of Guardiola's side make the cut.
