A British man who died in a helicopter accident in Greece has been named in reports as Jack Fenton. The Sun reported that Mr Fenton, believed to be in his 20s, was killed when he was struck by the helicopter’s rear motor in Athens on Monday.
It was reported that he was travelling back from the island of Mykonos with three friends as his parents followed in a helicopter behind. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed that a British man died in Greece.
An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.”
A Greek police source told the Mirror that the Briton had been decapitated by the moving blades at the tail of the helicopter, a Bell 407.
"The blades were still in motion when he disembarked and our investigation has focused on possible negligence. The rota should have been at standstill when the young man left the aircraft.
"The case file has now been sent to the public prosecutor," the police officer added. "The inquiry has been completed."
Local reports suggested he had been "taking a photo" when the helicopter blade hit him. Manslaughter charges have been issued against the pilot and two ground technicians who are all currently in police custody.
