Jack Draper reaches first semi-final in a year after injury hell

  • Jack Draper has reached his first semi-final in 12 months at the Lexus Eastbourne Open, marking a strong return from a year plagued by injury setbacks.
  • Under the guidance of new coach Andy Murray, the 24-year-old defeated Gabriel Diallo 6-1 6-4, maintaining an unbeaten record without dropping a set in the tournament.
  • Despite battling a stomach bug earlier in the week, Draper displayed no discomfort, delivering an impressive performance with 25 winners and only nine unforced errors.
  • Lucky loser Toby Samuel also advanced to the semi-finals, securing his most significant career victory for the second consecutive day by defeating eighth seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3 6-4.
  • Samuel, who had the biggest ranking ascent last year, is set to face Belgium’s Zizou Bergs, who eliminated another British player, Jan Choinski, with a 6-3 6-3 win.
