Jack Butland has been backed to be a big hit for Rangers - like Joe Hart at Celtic.
The England cap became Michael Beale's third summer capture after joining Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling in putting pen to paper on pre-contract agreements. The 30-year-old has committed to the next four seasons at the Light Blues as he bids to get back playing regularly as a No1 goalkeeper.
Butland didn't land a single minute of action last season for Crystal Palace or Manchester United but he's been signed up as the man to replace the big void left by Allan McGregor at Ibrox. It was a similar scenario for Hart before he signed for Ange Postecoglou after difficult spells out of the picture at Tottenham, West Ham and Burnley.

Since his arrival in Scotland he's been the undisputed first choice for the Hoops and helped them win a Treble this season on top of the two trophies he won in his first campaign. It's a similar path Butland is currently on and Cammy Bell feels he's the man Rangers have been looking for ahead of the new campaign ahead.
He told the Scottish Sun : “Jack is someone who fits the model of what a Rangers No 1 should be.
“You look across the city and where Celtic went in recent times. They went down the foreign route with Vasilis Barkas and that didn’t work out.
“They then went for an experienced head in Joe Hart, a guy who has played at the very top for club and country.
“You only need to look at the success Joe’s had since coming to Celtic. He has loved it and performed really well. I think Jack could do the same with Rangers because he is the sort of younger model of Joe.
“Joe had played for teams who demand success and silverware and he knew how to handle that pressure. Jack has been at a lot of big clubs. You don’t join Manchester United if you aren’t a good goalie.
“In the last few years it’s fair to say he’s had a few indifferent seasons. He probably hasn’t played as many games as he would have liked to. When he first hit the scene he was the next big thing and he did enough to get himself into the England set-up, which isn’t easy.
“He went through a sticky spell in his career, but he has bounced back from that and got his career back on track. Being at Manchester United, he understands that winning mentality and you need that at a club like Rangers.
“If you look at where Joe was before he came to Celtic, Jack is in a similar mould to that. He’s not played a lot, but he could come here and rejuvenate his career.
“He’s still young enough that he could have another ten years or so in front of him, so he has plenty of time.”
He continued: “Playing for Rangers is a massive carrot for any player.
“I think a lot of the guys down south — and I include Joe Hart in that — maybe underestimate how big the two Glasgow clubs are.
“It’s only when they get here and they live it that they realise just how massive it is, the pressure of playing for a club of that size.
“European football, the chance to win silverware and playing in front of 50,000 every second week at Ibrox is a huge incentive for any player.
"Not everyone gets the chance to sample something like. Jack will find out how good it is.”
