Jack Broadbent set for early Leeds Rhinos exit with loan move on the cards

Jack Broadbent's Leeds Rhinos career appears to be finished with a move to Featherstone Rovers for the remainder of the season understood to be in the works. Rugby League Live understands a deal to send the 21-year-old to Leeds' partner club is being discussed which will see the outside back end of the campaign aiding Rovers' push for promotion to Super League.

Broadbent will join Castleford Tigers next season after penning a deal with the West Yorkshire outfit, which has come after a season in which regular game time has been hard to come by. He hasn't featured since Rohan Smith's first game in charge, a defeat to Salford Red Devils, and it is believed he does not feature in the new coach's plans for the remainder of the season.

As a result, Broadbent is set to end the season with Featherstone to maximise his opportunities before heading to the Tigers next season. He follows an almost identical path to Alex Sutcliffe, the current Tigers player who also was sent to Featherstone for the latter parts of last season after agreeing to a deal at the Jungle.

Last year saw Broadbent burst onto the scene and be quickly tipped as one of the club's brightest up-and-coming prospects. However, this season has seen him drop down the pecking order, with the likes of Alex Mellor, Rhyse Martin, Max Simpson and Tom Briscoe all preferred to him at differing stages.

He produced a man of the match performance in the win over Toulouse Olympique at Headingley now, it appears he has played his last game in blue and amber.

A recall clause is likely to be added in case Leeds suffer another injury crisis but with the likes of Harry Newman and Liam Sutcliffe now fit, his likelihood of playing first-grade at Headingley seems distant at this stage.
