Ja Morant’s 34-point night and buzzer-beater against the New Orleans Pelicans is the talk of the NBA world, but Morant says he expected it.
On Tuesday, Morant blew the hinges off the doors of his return with 34 points in 35 minutes and a game-sealing bucket as time ran out. The Grizzlies’ resilience and Morant’s prowess were on full display as LeBron James and the internet could not believe what they saw.
Yet, Ja Morant somehow knew he might have moments like that despite spending months away from basketball. Just moments after the madness of his bucket set in, Morant was asked how he coped with his return and the adjustment of playing such a heavy workload right out of the gate.
Morant answered with a simple but accurate phrase.
