The Cincinnati Bengals were caught sleepwalking against the New England Patriots in Week 1 and it cost them in a 16-10 upset. The Bengals now have an 0-1 start, a trip to Kansas City and a continued contract dispute all hanging over their heads.
That was highlighted by USA Today’s Nate Davis in his Week 2 power rankings, a list that saw the Bengals fall from No. 9 to No. 14.
The pair of fumbles Sunday matched their total for the 2023 season. But far more important, this team needs to figure out WR Ja’Marr Chase’s contractual situation – especially with a visit to the rested Chiefs coming up.
Chase still played Sunday but one can wonder if things would have been different if his contract was taken care of before the season started.
Would’ve, could’ve, should’ve. In any event, the Bengals are still viewed as a top-16 team by Davis, but another 0-2 start will change that quickly.
