Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase detailed when he actually suffered the hip injury that has cost him a handful of games and also chatted about his return.
Meeting with reporters on Wednesday, Chase says he suffered the hip injury when he hyperextended his knee on a 15-yard touchdown against the Saints in Week 6, then scored the game-winner later while battling the issue. He then re-aggravated the injury during the win over the Falcons.
“I felt good last week running straight and making cuts,” Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Last week, I even tried to make cuts on my hurt leg as hard as I could, I didn’t really feel nothing. I felt good about it.”
Chase also revealed the idea was he would be back against the Titans last week. But he went to coaches and explained that he wasn’t 100 percent comfortable yet.
Fast forward to this week, Chase seems quite a bit more comfortable. This was his first meeting with media since the injury, which also says a lot about where he’s at.
Chase returning against the Chiefs doesn’t mean he’ll be back to 100 percent or ready to play every snap, but he is on track for the Chiefs game.
