There was much to learn about the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday from an injury standpoint as head coach Zac Taylor and others addressed the media.
Buy Bengals TicketsFor one, star wideout Ja’Marr Chase was there getting treatment and on crutches but declined interviews, per ESPN’s Ben Baby.
On the topic of Eli Apple, who missed Monday night when Chidobe Awuzie suffered his season-ending injury, he sounds like a go against Carolina, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. Tre Flowers, on the other hand, does not.
Then there’s the topic of DJ Reader, one of the league’s best nose tackles. Taylor told Fox 19’s Jeremy Rauch that they will evaluate that situation at the bye. That’s confirmation about what was otherwise speculation when reviewing his injury timeline.
So in short, after no moves at the trade deadline, the Bengals will work with what they have at cornerback over the weekend as Apple comes back and hope remains that Chase and Reader — two top-five guys at their respective spots — can come back sooner rather than later.
