Cincinnati Bengals star wideout Ja’Marr Chase has high praise when talking about the approach quarterback Joe Burrow has taken to his upcoming contract extension.
Asked about Burrow saying he’s well aware of the team’s need to re-sign players like Chase and Tee Higgins during his own contract extension, Chase said it’s a sign of how much the quarterback wants to win.
“It means he wants to win,” Chase said, according to CLNS Media’s Mike Mike Petraglia. “He knows what he has to do to win and he wants to win. He’s a winning guy. He’s not a quarterback that’s always interested in money and all that other stuff. He just wants to win, and that’s the big thing about Joe.”
Keep in mind earlier this offseason, Chase suggested Burrow would take a friendly deal in order to keep all the pieces of the offense together.
If nothing else, it’s a suggestion that what fans perceive as Burrow doing a deal that makes this all possible remains a real possibility — not a guarantee, but the vibes seem to match the situation.
For now, it’s still a waiting game as players and the team sort out how all the pieces will fit, but Chase’s tone on the matter hasn’t changed all these months later.
