Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t want anyone to count out the Cincinnati Bengals just yet.
In fact, let Chase say his piece, he sounds like almost any fan out there when getting a good look at the remaining schedule.
Before his team’s Week 12 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chase detailed why losing Joe Burrow doesn’t mean the season is lost — and what they have to do to get back to the playoffs.
“He’s one of the best players in the league, a No. 1 pick. Play our game, play Bengals football. Execute. Stay consistent,” Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I feel like we have a shot at getting into the playoffs. Have to win both of these games against the Steelers. Then come back and beat the Browns that last game. We still have opportunities. Just make sure we get in the playoffs and just keep rolling.”
We can file this one under easier said than done territory, of course. But it’s not wrong, either. The Bengals play just one game against a non-AFC opponent the rest of the way and get four more games in the AFC North.
With every team battling injuries and the potential for the Cincinnati defense to keep improving as a young secondary gains more experience, a messy AFC could yield pretty much any seeding scenario that wouldn’t be too shocking come playoff time.
